Happy Thursday, Lolitas ✨
We're back on the blog with a DIY project that you'll love, because we know you love nail art : stickers, drawings, jelly manicures, glitter , or the marble effect. The problem? These manicures are often impossible for most people to do, requiring you to go to specialized salons. The good news? There's a trendy manicure that's super easy to do at home! And from the title, you already know which one we're talking about... The ombré manicure, or gradient. This manicure consists, as its name suggests, of combining two colors (or more if you're good at it) and blending them together using a blending technique.
You'll probably need some practice to get it perfect, but if you're even a little skilled, you can't miss it. Let's get to it.
What materials will you need?
For this technique, I recommend having at least two colors of nail polish, one lighter and one darker . In addition to the shades you'll use for the gradient, you'll need an ombré pigment applicator or a foam (a small sponge). These are the essential products, although you can also add other colors. a nail strengthener and a top coat , to ensure it will last longer.
Step by step
1. Before applying the polish, the nail must be thoroughly prepared, leaving it clean and the surface well polished.
2. We apply a base coat prior to the polish, which will depend on each person, but for this type of manicure a nail strengthener will be great.
3. We apply a coat of nail polish with the lightest shade . If it covers well, one coat will be enough; if not, two.
4. Depending on the direction in which we are going to make the gradient, we apply the strongest color enamel.
5. Using a special gradient foam or a pigment applicator, we apply a little of the darkest color and We tap lightly from the darkest shade to the lightest. to gradually eliminate the line that separates both colors until it becomes invisible.
6. Finally, we apply a glow top coat .
Another way to make a subtle gradient
There are several techniques for this manicure. The most common is the one above, but there is a variation using a sponge.
1. After cleansing and applying the base or strengthener, we apply a light base color, one or two coats depending on how well it covers.
2. On the sponge, we apply the two polishes (the base and the darker one) and in the part where they meet we mix them a little.
3. Dab the color with the sponge, gently saturating the color into the base. You'll achieve a very nice, subtle blend.
And we are now ready to feel like our authentic selves. nail artists in our house. Maybe we'll teach you how to do the ombré gradient on your lips too...
See you soon, lolitas ✨
